Where We Walk
These descriptions are a guide to our walks. Alternative routes will be taken subject to time of year or weather on the day.
ERDDIG - EASY & MODERATE WALKS
Walks take place in the beautiful surroundings of Erddig Hall, a National Trust property near Wrexham, with a variety of distance and duration. Suitable for all walkers. Distance 2-5 miles
TREVOR BASIN - EASY, MODERATE & MODERATE / CHALLENGING WALKS
Several different walks in this stunning part of the Dee valley, some crossing the Pontcysllte Aqueduct, part of the Unesco World Heritage Site (or under it if you prefer!). Some steep inclines. Distance 2-5 miles
CHIRK BASIN - EASY & MODERATE WALKS
Our walks here have it all. Canal, countryside, aqueducts and tunnels as well as spanning two countries. A mostly flat walk along towpaths with some inclines depending on route. Distance 2-5 miles
CHIRK CASTLE - MODERATE, MODERATE / CHALLENGING & CHALLENGING WALKS
The large estate of this medieval castle offers great walks in a unique setting, with spectacular views over the Cheshire and Shropshire plains and part of Offa’s Dyke too. Includes inclines. Distance 2-5 miles
LLANGOLLEN CANAL - EASY & MODERATE WALKS
This flat walk starts from the Wenffrwd Nature Reserve and continues along the towpath to the head of the canal at Llangollen or towards Trevor Basin. An ideal “on tour” walk for our beginners. Distance 3-5 miles
PENTREDWR - MODERATE & MODERATE / CHALLENGING WALKS
A scenic road walk in the hills of the Clwydian Range, via the old village of Pentredwr. While offering a challenge to walkers this route is achievable by most if taken at a slower pace. Distance 4 miles
HOLT - EASY & MODERATE WALKS
Walking through the village and over the bridge to Farndon, our route then takes us along the River Dee and back past the remains of Holt Castle and sometimes through the strawberry fields. A relatively easy walk taken at a gentle/moderate pace. Distance 4 miles
ALYN WATERS - EASY, MODERATE & MODERATE / CHALLENGING WALKS
This walk explores the natural elements and pathways of Alyn Waters Country Park crossing over the River Alyn from Gwersyllt to Llay. Using roads and good paths with at least two steep inclines. Distance 2-5 miles
ROSSETT- EASY, MODERATE & MODERATE / CHALLENGING WALKS
Starting in Rossett village the route takes us up to Marford, through the old quarry run by the North Wales Wildlife Trust, then across Trevalyn meadows to complete the circle. Roads and woodland paths with gentle inclines. Distance 3-5 miles
CHIRK BANK & RHOSWIEL (DOBBIES) - EASY/MODERATE WALKS
Starting from Dobbies Garden Centre, this circular walk follows quiet country roads and towpaths with some inclines. Distance 3-5 miles
MINERA LEAD MINES- EASY, MODERATE, MODERATE / CHALLENGING & CHALLENGING WALKS
A combination of woodland pathways and some country lanes, this walk takes us along part of the Clywedog Trail and sometimes further up through the Minera Quarry Nature Reserve towards Bwylchgwyn. Distance 3-5 miles
